The history of OWEN

OWEN was derived from our '50+' project which was highly commended by the Office of Public Management (OPM) at a prestigious ceremony in 2004.

The project was launched in 2002 and aimed to reduce employment amongst those aged 50 and over in the East Riding.

In 2004, the project went on to receive funding from the European Social Fund and OWEN (The Older Workers Employment Network) was born. The project continued to help people across the East Riding, but now provided support to those 45 and over.

In 2006, OWEN secured further funding from Yorkshire Forward under the MORE (Making Opportunities Realistic For Everyone) employability programme. This ran until March 2009.

OWEN is now funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and ESF (European Social Fund) in the East Riding and is part of the Change programme in North East Lincolnshire.
