Thursday 1 October was the UN International Day for Older People and UK Older People’s Day.

OWEN joined forces with East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Positive Futures team, who work with socially excluded young people for the event which focused on ‘bringing generations together’.

The event involved mixed teams of OWEN and Positive Futures members taking part in new sports that included new age kurling, boccia and a variety of street sports. The activities were lead by the Council’s community sports coaches.

Jackie Langley, OWEN project manager, said: “It was great fun bringing generations together on Older People’s Day. A big thank you goes to all OWEN beneficiaries who took part.”
