FIRST impressions count
Looking the part at interview could be the key to your success.
If you've got an interview for a job, smart is the keyword. Make sure that the clothes you choose look neat and clean and are ironed. Creased clothes will give the interviewer the impression that you haven’t made an effort.
For the gents…
• For men, a shirt and tie is probably best for a job interview. Wear shoes, not trainers, and give them a good polish.
• You should wear smart trousers and be sure to tuck your shirt into them. If you have a suit jacket, it won’t hurt to put it on.
• You should wear a belt with your trousers and make sure that your tie is tied properly. Your hair should be clean and brushed if possible.
For the ladies…
• Ladies need to dress smartly too. Wear a formal skirt or trousers along with a smart-casual top or a suit if you have one. Avoid tops that are revealing or show a lot of flesh, a top with sleeves looks smarter than one without.
• Your shoes should be closed-toed and not too high so that you can walk comfortably. Wear tights with a skirt if you like, but try not to go for anything too wildly designed. A plain pair to match the colour of your skirt or jacket should be OK.
• If you've got long hair, it's probably best to tie it back and if you like to wear make up, you probably shouldn't put too much on.
• Keep your jewellry simple and to a minimum, and if you take a bag with you, make sure it's in good condition and matches what you're wearing.
